Ron Schneider

Ron Schneider joined the University in February 2024 as General Counsel and Vice President of Legal Affairs after serving as UNE’s outside general counsel for many years.

Ron is an award-winning education, health care, and employment law advisor and litigator. During his time as a partner at Portland-based law firm Bernstein Shur, he served as outside counsel to hospitals, private schools, and multiple non-profit social service agencies. His twenty-five-year private practice included a wide variety of litigation and counseling in many different areas of the law, including all aspects of employment law, including Title VII and state human rights claims, whistleblower claims, employee misconduct and theft, employment agreements, non-compete agreements, investigations, discipline, and terminations.

Prior to entering private practice, Ron served as a law clerk to Superior Court Justices Leigh Saufley, Nancy Mills, Susan Calkins, Roland Cole, and Arthur Brennan.
